Not to mention it was the perfect night in to test drive my brand new purple hair extensions! I have to admit, ever since the day I let my middle school boyfriend, Jessi, dye a strip of my hair bright fire engine red back in 8th grade before that Smashing Pumpkins concert, there's always been a piece of me that has been aaaaching to do it again (and now thankfuly I can bypass that whole messy bleaching process) ;P
I picked up these strands at Hot Topic (God, I Love that place with a capital "L"!) and they're surprisingly easy to use and look pretty authentic! There's nothing quite like random steaks of Barney-colored tresses to break up a mundane sea of black hair, I always say (or will probably start saying now). I was contemplating a shockingly vivid hue of cobalt blue but in the end it was the funky, punk-rock purple that won my heart!
Now, feast your eyes on this little fab slice of winter wear! I just HAD to get a shot of Jessica's oh-so-magical Burberry jacket. It's the absolute perfect jacket to rock out in 2010 - it's fun AND functional. The cut is completely classic and the plaid pattern gives it a bit of an edgy. It's perfect for the office or even a night out and the best part is the fact that she was able to snag it for only $150 with the help of a Bloomingdale's sale and a coupon (that's $350 cheaper than the original price!). See recessionistas...being thrifty CAN pay off :)
And last but not least, I've been immersing myself in this book:
'20th Century Fashion: 100 Years of Style by Decade and Designer, in Association with Vogue'
and I CANNOT put it down. For all you fashion junkies out there, I hiiiiiiighly recommend it! Not only does it teach you about the trends of each decade (as well as showcasing the covers of various 'Vogue' magazines from that specific time period) but it gives an in-depth and detailed description of just how history and life actually cultivated the way in which we view clothing and style to this day. I just got it yesterday and I'm already almost half way through. If you're interested in fashion or just want to immerse yourself and familiarize yourself with knowledge of designers both past and present, this is the book for you!
- Gray Skinny Levi Jeans (I think I bought them from a store on 6th Avenue about 3 years ago...roughly $50)
- Gray Tee (H&M...$7)
- Black Crocheted Sleeveless Sweater Vest (Rave...$4...I just got this at the Cool Springs Mall in Tennessee, Rave was shutting down and EVERYTHING in the store was 80% off...I was like a kid in a candy store, I tell ya!)
- Purple Beanie (Forever 21...$6)
- Green Bead Necklace (H&M...$6...this necklace is sooooo old but it's lasted forever and I love how I can knot it to change the length of loop it my wrist multiple times to give it the appearance of a cuff-like bracelet)
- Brown Bondage Boots
- Purple Hair Extensions (Hot Topic...$6...and worth every last magical cent!)
Lovin the purple background to match the extensions.. Which Purple Rain song would match?? STYLIN' on the edge!
