Today (Jan. 4th, 2010) I'm Wearing...

A brand new year, a brand new look!!! I can't tell you how excited I am for 2010. Just thinking of all the trends to be and future fashion do's and don'ts practically has me giddy :)

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday season and an awesome New Year to boot! I spent the last two weeks visiting my family in Tennessee and although it was truly fantastic, I couldn't get over how cold it was! To give you an idea if just how cold it was the temperatures there were BELOW the temperature here in New York City. Uh, yeah, extremely hace frio if you catch my drift!
Anyway, one thing about the cold wearther that I do like (and I say "like" that with just a tinge of apprehension) is all the cozy layers and sweaters that come with it. Sweater dresses and hoodies, textured tights and leggings, embellished scarves and cute beanies...the odds and ends to layering are pretty, well, endless when you add in a pinch of creativity :) In fact, it's a fashionista's dream!

Today I opted for one of my super comfy over-sized sweater vests to fend off the winter chill. I bought this one from Marshall's about two years ago and it's the perfect layering staple. I even wear it with dresses or short sleeves when the weather is cool but not so cold you need the extra warmth. It's just so chunky and fun that I feel like I'm constantly recycling it in my wardrobe and surprisingly the army green color matches with a lot more than you'd think.

These leggings are less of a regular wear but I felt like they might pop more than boring old black ones (which don't get me wrong, I am completely infatuated with, but a girl's gotta shake it up sometimes). Now these boots, however, are the real piece de resistance and I love, love, love them!!!

I bought them at this store in TN called 'Marty & Liz' (Lo, I know you know what I am talking about!) This place is a mecca, a shoe haven, a fashionista/recessionista's heaven on earth and I'm not kidding! You can buy amazing top designer shoes there at a fraction of the price because they are all sample sizes from runway shows and or catalogs where the shoes were featured. From Michael Kors to Aldo, stilettos to sneakers, this place has it all and it's hard not to drop some serious, serious cash in there (trust me, I was fighting the urge!). These boots are actually from the shoe company Blowfish and something that I thought I normally wouldn't run to right off the bat, but I have to admit that I adore the cut-out design and the bohemian feel of them. Plus they've got a year-round appeal to them that makes me long for summer days and nights when I can rock them with a light summer dress or a sick pair of leather pants for a fun night out...(sigh) the possibilities are endless...

I have to say that I've got a good feeling about this year! There is so much positive on the horizon and I simply cannot wait to see how it all unfolds! My fashion resolution this year is to try out fun trends and piece together a wardrobe that is sophisticated, fun and fierce; to have fun with fashion and let it be an extrension of my personality with no fear! Oh, and also to get a pair of kick-ass over-the-knee boots (I'm still searching for that oh-so-perfect pair ;) If I can do this all on a budget then I think I will have to reward myself with a big-time splurge at the end of the year! :] Okay friends, I'm out for now but stay tuned!
