Today (Oct. 21st, 2009) I'm wearing...

I can't believe it's Wednesday already. This week just seems to be flying by. I've got a busy week/weekend ahead of me chock full of delightful engagements to attend to. Today as we all know, is the 'Future of Fashion' lecture I'm attending with my friend, Chelsie, and tomorrow I have the wonderful privilege of working at a FENDI sample sale (Hey, give me any job as long as it's in close proximity to clothes and I'm allowed to talk fashion any day!).

Then on Saturday afternoon I'm working on an article covering Zombie Con for the Whiskey Dregs :D I think technically I'm suposed to dress up like a zombie...

So much to do and so little time...I guess that's what happens when life starts to fall into place.

I say, bring it on.

On a different note, I was talking to my friend, Kara, the other day because I was trying to think of a few new ways to spruce up the ol' blog and then I thought, with the seasons transitioning, it's the perfect oppurtunity to showcase exactly how to take a summer ensemble and make in cold-weather ready, with just a few step by step tips:)

First off, I started with one of my favorite light, floral chiffon dresses that most would naturally assume screams Spring/Summer only, but the truly magical thing is that with just a few minor tweaks, this is a year round frock.
And here's the breakdown:

  1. Black floral chiffon dress+
  2. A black cap sleeved turtleneck (make sure it's a light enough material that you can layer it beneath your dress for added warmth) +
  3. Black opaque tights (my favorite leg protectors when the weather gets chilly:) +
  4. A gray button-up "boyfriend" cardigan (keeping it in a neutral color helps to keep the look pretty and demure while balancing out the frills of the dress and giving it a slightly masculine edge)+
  5. Black ankle boots (Because they are the same color as my tights, the overall effect is incredibly slimming and makes even short legs look longer:)
  6. Red belt (The color is a eye-catching focal point and it brings the look together cohesivelywith a subtle side of sophistication)

And it's just that simple. Now you don't have to buy a brand new Winter wardrobe ;)
