"My 26 Little Summer Must Haves" #20

T is for T-Shirts...

Comfy, worn-in tees are a staple in my summer wardrobe because they are so easily adaptable. You can dress them up or down depending on how you accesorize them. It's simple as that! My new favorite thing is to give them a more polished look by pairing them with feminine skirts and or super short minis.

Anything goes and sometimes the most casual shirts can surprise you when you mix and match them with other more sophisticated pieces.

I'm also a big fan of "fader" or "burn-out" tees where some of the fabric is more distressed in certain areas to give it a slightly worn, semi-sheer effect that shows just a hint of skin without being too racy and the material is usually breathable enough for those warm summer days, and nights. Not to mention the fact that t-shirts now go beyond just the basics, there are new assymetrical cuts and designs that give the average shirt a mini facelift ;)
Plus they can make a statement...you better believe during the Presidential election I was rocking out my "Penguins for Obama" t-shirt like no other!
Don't even get me started on band tees (I have a drawer full of them!). There is simply no limit to the wonderful workings of a t-shirt when it comes to fashion.
