Summer is the time for sandals! Whether you opt for the gladiator, the ever-faithful flip-flop, or "mandals" (for all you gentlemen out there), footwear is an extension of your ensemble and there are some fabulous styles out there to take advantage of. Not to mention the fact that as the summer slowly nears its end, the sales and savings right now on the latest and greatest in footwear is an added bonus :D

Remember, taking shoe risks is what it's all about, just don't try to embrace every trend out there, here are my Summer 2009 Hits & Misses when it comes to the ever-popular "Gladiator" sandal.

The Good: Stylish and sophisticated enough, the fun stud detailing and simple ankle strap make these a comfortable option when transitioning from the office to evening cocktails. (Just make sure you know your office dress codes, some are more lax than others.)

The Bad: These should be reserved only for the cast of the movie '300'...and that statement is putting it mildly...

The Ugly: C'mon Nike!!!! I get that you're trying to hop on the money trend train and all, but gladiator lace-up sneaker sandals?!?!?! There are simply no words!

In conclusion, forget the hype and wear what makes you feel good...unless you're wearing these horrific Nike sandals...then you should just feel foolish ;)
