That's right...if there is anything sexier than lace, it's undergarments "peeking" out for an "exposed" look. It gives the idea that you're actually showing something a little more risque but in a classy toned-down sort of way. C'mon, I'm all for sexing it up but in the corner of your mind when you dress, can't you hear your mother's words creep into the back of your mind even just a little bit?!?
"Why buy the whole cow if you're giving the milk for free..." (well, come to think of it, my mother never said that...but I'm sure there are some out there who did).
Anyways, I'm becoming quite obsessed with undergarments and the like, from bandeaus to corsets. If you have to wear them, you might as well make sure they are stylish and appealing. Directly below is a designer corset button-up top that I got from H&M forever and a day ago, but I love wearing it beneath cardigans and also over tanks for an exceptionally modern look. For example, can you just imagine it beneath this ultra chic scalloped semi-sheer sweater tunic (from Forever 21 that I am also coveting). It's all in the details, and I'm really embracing the idea of letting my delicates take some of the much-deserved spotlight.
The pairing options are endless once you really get an eye for pairing semi-sheer with detailed undergarments. One piece I am craving at the moment is this matte vinyl bandeau tube top from the clothing line Kill City.
OMG, can you just imagine this peeking out from a low cut v-neck tee or a cropped blazer jacket OR a burn-out tee?!?!?!I'm salivating here! It's just too much for me! If anyone of my lovely readers wants to invest in an early, early b-day prez for yours truly, then consider this item on the wish list!
So my lovely readers, ditch simplicity for a bit of an edgier look. Let your imagination be your guide. Look to lingerie-toting ladies such as Lady Gaga for inspiration...she wears more undergarments as 'outter-garments' then anyone else I know, and she looks fabulous doing so...wtih that in mind, who says you can't knock 'em dead too?
