Today (May 20th, 2009) I'm wearing...

Today is the say that we've all been waiting for, folks!!! The sun is out, the sky is blue, people are overflowing the NYC streets and it's the kind of day that makes me wish I wasn't cooped up in an office all day. Nevertheless, today I wanted to add in bold elements of color to my ensemble!!! :D It's a rainbow type of day so I wore my curtain brocade skirt with the colorful fabric swatches sewn together ( I found this at Beacon's Closet for about $15 and it's still one of my favorite Beacon investments! It's got this really hand-made quality to it that sets it apart and it can easily be dressed up and or down for any occasion!!!). I thought I also might add an unexpected twist by pairing it with my vintage cowboy boots. Add some colored beads and a monochromatic top and I felt my outfit was versatile and fun without trying top hard ;P Fashion should be fun, right?!? I'm off to see what the day holds...- Black bell-sleeve sweater (H&M on sale for $5...my go-to-staple sweater)
- Brocade curtain skirt w/ colored fabric panels (Beacon's Closet...$15...magical!!!)
- Green beads (H&M...been around for a good solid 4 years...I think they were around $3.50)
- Wooden beads (thrift swap...free!)
- Brown vintage cowboy boots (TN thrift store...can't remember exact price, but surely under $10 and they fit like a charm...it was destiny!)
I am in desperate need of new cowboy boots! Where is this TN Thrift store and will they have more boots?
ReplyDeleteI actually DID buy them in Tennessee, however, I have been to numerous thrift stores around the area that have FABULOUS boots of every style and for a fraction of the price! One place that jumps to mind immediately is 'Beacon's Closet' in Williamsburg! They have a whole sections of the store devoted to shoes and boots! Also, the Salvation Army and the Goodwill on E. 23rd street occasionally get some great boots! They tend most to have size 6's, 8's and 9's most commonly...
