For this adventure, ensemble-wise, I wanted "transition pieces" because I knew the evening portion was going to be eclectic and fun ( a giant party thrown in a warehouse-type loft, with three performance spaces for bands, DJ's, firedancers, you name it...it was there in some form!), so I wanted to choose an outfit that was fun, shiny and would make me happy to wear it.
Also, realizing that I was going to be on my feet all afternoon and into the evening, I decided that I would go with a bold color pallete and different textures and patterns but with simple enough lines so I could blend seamlessly from day tonight...I'm sure it was a bit gawdy and in-your-face for Queens so early in the evening but I quickly made peace with the fact that I would stand out a bit...:P
- Gold sheath tunic (Buffalo Exchange in Williamsburg...originally from Express...$7)
- Black camisole (underneath...$5)
- Red & black african print skirt (American Apparell...a birthday present to myself...thank me, very much :)
- Black leggings (H&M...a recent purchase and they are breaking in quite nicely!!!)
- Nautical Steven Allen jacket (one of my oldest pieces!!!! I've had it for about 5 years, I was in the Steven Allen store in Soho with some friends and saw this jacket, it was marked down from $178 down to about $60 on their sales rack...my mom ended up buying it for me. I LOVE it, even though it has bleach stains and is falling apart..I feel like it only adds to its fabulousity!!!)
- "Brunette" necklace (By far the best shot of this fine piece of jewelry...if I had a dime for every person who made a comment on it...)
- Black flat knee-high boots
